Unique Aspects of Our Culture

Time Tracking: We utilize Toggl.com (you can check it out for free) to record all work tasks in 15-minute increments or greater. This helps us analyze project costs and time spent. All team members are required to do this (even our Founder). We trust our team and do not use screen monitoring software.

Results-Oriented: We focus on outcomes rather than hours worked, as long as you work a minimum of 35 hours per week and meet your objectives. We value efficiency and effectiveness over working a targeted amount of hours.

High-Performance Environment: We cultivate a culture where high performers thrive together, learn, and achieve challenging goals. Average or low performing employees won’t fit in our company.

Structured and Organized: We provide clear objectives, structure, and leadership— so you always know what winning looks like. We ensure team members can confidently achieve their goals on a daily basis, and offer support when it's needed.

Collaborative Improvement: We view your intelligence as an asset and will ask you to share ideas to enhance our systems and processes. Your input is a key to our improvement, and we implement suggestions regularly.

A Note on Our Culture:

While we expect many future team members to be based in Colombia (including our founder, who has lived there for 3+ years), Launch or Scale is a US-based company — which means our internal culture, pace, and communication style are shaped by US business norms.

For example:

  • We tend to get straight to the point in meetings and messages.

  • We value proactive communication and problem-solving without waiting to be asked.

  • We move fast, expect direct feedback, and aim to always be improving.

We don’t expect you to change who you are — but we do expect cultural flexibility and a willingness to adapt to how the team operates internally.

This Role Reports to:

Josh, Our CEO and Founder:

Josh is the Founder and former CEO of Veo Careers, a US company he built and sold that helped businesses adopt Fair Chance Hiring in order to access overlooked, but otherwise qualified, candidates with criminal records.

Now, as the Founder of Launch Or Scale, he’s helping other startups and nonprofits make a difference in the US Criminal Legal System and scale through better technology, strategy, and execution.

With corporate, nonprofit, and startup expertise—and a personal connection to the challenges of returning home after incarceration himself—Josh is committed to building new technology solutions that create real opportunities for people involved with the US Criminal Legal System.

What you can expect from him:

  • Embraces discomfort, values not always having the answer, and isn’t afraid to challenge his own beliefs.

  • Prioritizes people over work—believing employees and their lives matter more than the job—but when it’s time to execute, expects 110% commitment to the mission and work.

  • Values open communication, continuous learning, and a sense of humor.

Our Vision

For the Company

At Launch or Scale, we build powerful websites, mobile apps, and internal tools using modern no-code and low-code platforms.

Our vision is to grow strategically by first focusing on justice-focused startups (i.e., startups trying to improve the US Criminal Legal System, or that are adjacent to this space), then expanding to serve other nonprofits, small businesses, and startups.

We’re not seeking funding rounds or building this company in order to sell it later. We’re building a sustainable, profitable, long term business that is healthy and creates value for our clients and for you—our team members.

Our org structure for designers is intended to create attractive growth opportunities with clear salary transparency. Since you're our first full-time Web Designer, you'll report directly to our Founder. As we grow, we will hire more designers, which will eventually form design teams that are each led by a Creative Director:

  • Website Designer (Level 1) - Our core designers (COP 10M/month)

  • Lead Website Designer (Level 2) – Our more expert designers (COP 14M/month)

  • Creative Director (Level 3) – Coordinates design team across projects (COP 18M/month)

  • Vice President (Level 4) – Coordinates Creative Directors across the company (COP 25M/month)

We strongly prefer to promote from within. So if you're performing well and growing, then you’ll be considered first for any promotions versus candidates who are outside of the company.

For Your Career

We want this to be the best role you’ve ever had — and the place where your career advances.

Here’s what we hope for you:

Growth & Career Progression – Whether you want to ultimately become a Vice President or just become the best Lead Website Designer you can be, we’ll support that. We’ll invest in your development and when you level up, we’ll reflect that in your title and pay.

Emotional & Professional Wellbeing – We want you to earn more, enjoy better benefits, and feel calmer and more supported here than you would in a similar role at another company.

Ownership & Autonomy – You'll have real ownership over your work, the space to experiment, and trust from leadership and your team.

Inspiring Collaboration – We hope you’ll feel motivated and challenged by working with sharp, creative teammates who bring out your best and push you to keep growing too.

Long-Term Fit – If we’re a great match, we’ll make sure you are comfortable staying with us for the long haul. However, we 100% support employees who venture off to begin their own companies. We always view them as honored friends and potential future partners.
